Who runs Meansway
Meansway runs the website meansway.com and the Spend Check app at app.meansway.com. Meansway is based in Denmark.

The short version
- The website and Spend Check set no cookies.
- The website and Spend Check use no analytics, no advertising and no tracking.
- Spend Check has no bank connection. You type in the figures yourself.
- Your figures are stored in your browser, on the device you use. Spend Check does not send them to Meansway or to anyone else.
- Fonts and every other file come from Meansway’s own addresses. No request goes to Google or to any other outside service.
The website, meansway.com
Cookies and browser storage. The website sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser.
Analytics. None. Meansway does not measure visits, clicks or how you move through the site.
Hosting. Cloudflare hosts the website. To deliver each page, Cloudflare’s servers receive the details every web request carries, such as your IP address, the address of the page, the time, and the description your browser gives of itself.
Search. When the Resource Library is published, its search runs in your browser. Pressing Search opens a results page whose address holds the words you typed, so those words reach Cloudflare in the same way as any page address.
Links to other sites. The Spend Check page links to Etsy. When you follow the link, Etsy’s own privacy policy applies. meansway.com tells other sites nothing about which Meansway page you came from.
Spend Check, app.meansway.com
What Spend Check keeps, and where. Spend Check keeps these items in your browser’s local storage, on the device you use: the figures and dates you enter, your bills and buffers, your basket and parked spends, your settings, and a fingerprint of your access code.
What Spend Check sends. Nothing. Spend Check sends no figure to Meansway or to anyone else, and it makes no request to any outside address.
Who sees your figures. Meansway never sees your figures and has no way to recover them. Spend Check does not encrypt them. Anyone who uses the same browser on the same device sees them when they open Spend Check.
Clearing your browser. If you clear this browser’s data, you will be asked for the code again. Your figures come back only from a backup you saved.
Backups. A backup is a file you choose to save with Backup & restore. It stays where you save it. Meansway never receives it.
Your access code. Spend Check checks the code in your browser. It keeps only a fingerprint of the code, a scrambled form of it, so the same browser does not ask again. In the link from your PDF, the code sits after the “#” sign. Browsers never send this part of an address to a server, and Spend Check removes it from the address bar at once.
Hosting. Cloudflare hosts Spend Check. Each request carries the same details as on the website.
To delete everything Spend Check keeps, clear the site data for app.meansway.com in your browser settings.
Buying on Etsy
Spend Check is sold on Etsy. Etsy handles the payment and the order under its own privacy policy. As the seller, Meansway receives the order details Etsy shares with sellers, and the messages you send through your order. Meansway uses them only to deliver your order, answer your messages and handle refunds.
If you write to hello@meansway.com, Meansway receives your email address and your message, and uses them only to reply. Please never send your access code or your figures by email.
Your rights
If you live in the EU or the EEA, the GDPR gives you rights over the personal data Meansway holds about you: access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection and data portability. To use them, write to hello@meansway.com. You also have the right to complain to a data protection authority. In Denmark, this is Datatilsynet.
Meansway holds none of the figures you enter in Spend Check, because they never leave your browser.
Children
Meansway makes its tools for adults.
Changes to this policy
When this policy changes, the date at the top changes too.
